Gulf Beach Half Marathon

Half Marathon 284
There is nothing like a run along the shore among beautiful homes to cap off the summer.
My body is begging for mercury as I embark on my 34th half marathon for 2015. I conveniently forget that I also completed a couple ultras and marathons amidst my pursuit of reaching this goal I set. I put it all out of mind and set out to just enjoy a nice run in yet another new place.
I have run a Shoreline Sharks event race before and know they put on well organized event. Arriving an hour before start time with Jeff and Alicia we are able to get a nice close parking spot. Bathrooms and PPU are just step away very convenient. The races are a nice size never too big or too small with just enough frill without major crowds or a large price tag. This a race director who respects his runners and takes care of business. Watch out bandits he will find you! He will also make sure all runners get to the bathroom before the race starts even if that means sending other people to the back of the line. It makes sense and I like it! Thank you.
The races offers a nice course that runs along a beach path with both pavement and small areas of boardwalk. It also brings you along residential roads lined with stunning beach homes. Small pockets of spectators, mostly a family hear and there brought their children out to cheer us along. I really appreciate seeing the kids with their cute hand made signs holding out their hand for a high five. What a wonderful thing to show this young minds. Future runners one could only hope.
Water Gatorade ad GU were available frequently enough and the course was well marked. Volunteers directed traffic and runners at intersections. A nice race to have no worries, just settle into your pace and run.
I was very happy with their choice of a tech tank top and the medal is awesome. It's a race I would run again.
